The beginning of the end

While preparing a customized tailored fit jacket for Bollywood celebrity Salman Khan, we stumbled upon this idea of mixing the traditional painting with a futuristic cyborg twist. I was merely experimenting with painting and ended up overwhelmed with the outcome. Painting jackets has always been a task for me as there is little to no specifications mentioned by the client. But through this I also enjoy the freedom of doing as I please with a slight risk of the final product being accepted by the client.
I started painting the front after looking at some references for cyborg

The Making...

The Iron man

The collection started off with the artwork from Salman's jacket as the inspiration. Giving a similar look as Salman's jacket but instead of painting on black leather. I painted on blue leather which was what the body of this jacket was made of with black sleeves. Giving more red elements here, I tried to make it a more memorable and eye-catchy look.

The boy with an iron arm

After experimenting with fully painted jackets, we decided to give a minimal yet strong look with a robotic arm and studs. The color palette for this design was more monochromatic so as to make the detailing, the highlight. High neck collar with leather straps attached to give a street urban style to it. The sleeve of this jacket was designed and painted first, so the body of the jacket came after the sleeve, so it would compliment the detailing on the sleeve instead of overpowering it.

Mean Machine

Further working on similar color palette and robotic arm concept. We decided to work with more intricate detailing, to make the outcome more realistic. Instead of just giving the three dimensional look with painting, I decided to try some flaps, leather patched in the shape of the robotic part to make it continuous from the arm to the body. We even tried to play with snaps and flat studs to enhance the artwork of the sleeve.

The Hexagon Story

The honeycomb structure appears everywhere, from future soldier armor to car grills and on plenty of gadgets. Noticing the play of hexagons in futuristic designs or graphics we decided to use the pattern as an unfinished part of coding through a cyborg. To form a connect through the collection we decided to reintroduce red in the palette. Instead of using in the paint aspect we decided to play with the zipper base and also introduced a hint of burgundy onto one lapel. We used leather only to create the patches and for the straps that give a youthful look.

Raw Stitches

Having a monochromatic palette, we wanted to give a raw rustic look. The street grunge attitude was supposed to have a continuity. The eyelets and leather strap gives a raglan shoulder effect. Creating a post apocalyptic aura to continue the bionic theme
Steampunk Leather

With the monochromatic palette we decided to get a play of color so as to not end up with the entire collection being sobered down with black & white. After having added red and maroon through paint or zipper detailing, we thought a little bit of blue and teal would add a hibt of another color.

Graphic Gold

Geometric shapes of PVC Gold Leather, resembling the parts of robot. With a sponge dip of colorful shades going from blue, green, red and fading to a yellow. With a high neck and straps around to give a biker look. With detailings of the snap buttons the robotic touch came to life.

Splatter Biker

Creating a leather jacket and denim jeans with leather patchworks. The splatter and splash of dirty white and white made a great base. The yellow, red ad light blue added the perfect highlight. Keeping the majority of the splash on one side and highlighting with somestuds and eyelets.

Hooded Havoc

Keeping the street grunge look, we decided to add a hood a keep a more youthful silhouette. As for the fabric we mixed waxed denim and leather. We patched on the leather in the same design and painted the machine parts.

The Werewolf's Growl

With a simple notch lapel, I decided to use the zippers to add the complete metal grunge look. Silver YKK zippers customized with the label name added further to the look. The zippers on the sleeve was a detail I wanted to add to make it more youthful and also to make it stand apart from the rest of the biker leather jackets. The leather strap hanging from the side pocket zipper made the look more street and urban. After a few options we shortlisted it to a wolf growling to give a ferocious and powerful aura.

The King Of The Jungle

After keeping a modern apocalyptic theme, I decided it would seem more realistic to have a tribal apocalyptic touch to it as well. Having worked mostly with leather for the Bionic, SR19; we decided to give a more rustic washed out effect with denim. This was my first time painting denim. A tribal lion with a dream catcher and an animal skull created just the perfect mix.

The Denim Annihilations

Working with jackets as the highlight garment, I decided of playing with a sleeveless look to give a more youthful biker look for spring - summer. Instead of painting the outline of the design, we decided to patch leather. As paint stiffens the denim.
The Destruction

Playing with black and blue denim to create a contrasting look. We stitched the garments first and then gave a wash. We added a bellow pocket and a few zippers. With a few rips around the look got a grunge and youthful touch to it.
The Sly Vice

For the last design, I decided to keep it simple and use mostly straps and patches. We added zippers and flap to add a pocket detail on the jacket. Keeping the indigo denim as the main body we created most of the details.
Thank You!!
