After keeping a modern apocalyptic theme, I decided it would seem more realistic to have a tribal apocalyptic touch to it as well. Having worked mostly with leather for the Bionic, SR19; we decided to give a more rustic washed out effect with denim. This was my first time painting denim.

Using a silver pen for the outline was difficult to work with as the ink kept fading. The texture of the denim made it difficult to create a clean outline. So I had to keep redrawing the outline while painting.

I used a mix of dark brown, burnt sienna and ochre to make a perfect shaded lion.

The use of red in certain areas just adds a tribal touch around the nose. The slight red on the teeth also creates the apocalyptic look.

The wing was different shades of blue made by mixing white and black.

The shading looked better on denim as the texture that looks similar to canvas paintings.
