FIERCE & FREE

During my time working at Asa Kazingmei, a label known for its edgy and bold designs, I had the opportunity to delve into leather work—primarily using cow, sheep, and goat skin. My mission was to create a street-ready, grunge-inspired look that pushed the boundaries of typical leather fashion. Armed with my cursor and paintbrush, I set out to transform a classic biker jacket into something distinctively modern and rebellious

I started with a basic design featuring a simple notch lapel. To elevate it, I used zippers as the defining feature, giving the jacket a raw, metallic edge. Silver YKK zippers, customized with the label’s name, enhanced the overall grunge aesthetic. The placement of zippers on the sleeves was a deliberate choice to add a youthful touch, ensuring it stood out from the sea of traditional biker jackets. The final touch? A leather strap hanging from the side pocket zipper, exuding that urban, street style that seamlessly tied the look together.

Creating the line art for the wolf was a meticulous process, as I wanted the growling creature to embody strength and dominance. The challenge lay in selecting the perfect color palette—one that would keep the wolf as the hero of the piece, while enhancing its intensity. After experimenting with different tones, we settled on highlighting key features like the wolf’s scar, eyes, and mouth with vibrant shades of yellow and red. These colors gave the artwork a powerful contrast against the leather, making the wolf appear alive with a fierce, predatory energy.

One of the most exciting aspects of this project was the chance to collaborate with the head designer on adding a hand-painted element to the jacket. We explored several ideas, but ultimately decided on a fierce, growling wolf as the centerpiece of the artwork. This choice not only injected a sense of ferocity and power into the design but also aligned perfectly with the rebellious, untamed spirit of the collection. The process of painting the jacket was exhilarating and rewarding, turning an already striking design into a statement piece that oozed attitude and confidence.

The result was a jacket that not only embraced grunge but also told a story of strength, resilience, and rebellion—perfect for the runway and the streets.
