BLUEPRINT TO RUNWAY

During my time working with designer Asa Kazingmei, known for his functional and utility-inspired menswear, I had the opportunity to collaborate on a project involving a denim jacket that had was designed by me for the LFW19, we needed to give it a new look. Our designs were heavily influenced by a minimal typographic look with lesser visuals.

To bring this artwork to life, I began by opening Autodesk Sketchbook and crafting a detailed PSD version of what I envisioned the final piece to look like. I played around with layers, textures, and the overall composition, ensuring it captured the essence of the concept. After getting approval, I jumped straight into bringing the garment and artwork into reality, translating the digital design into something tangible.

We initially aimed to keep the color palette clean and focused, centering around white, yellow, and black. The Storm Trooper element was added to symbolize authority and strength, giving the garment a powerful edge. Alongside this, we incorporated text-related typography and other graphic elements to enhance the narrative behind the design. However, as the design progressed, I realized it needed something more to truly stand out. The initial concept, while clean and bold, felt too predictable for my taste. So, I grabbed some paint and let my creativity flow, adding splashes of vibrant color to inject life and spontaneity into the piece. This unexpected twist gave the garment the unique, eye-catching appeal it needed to truly make a statement.
